All operators of Lasers in NZ need to abide by the Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016 & Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.

Employers who have staff operating devices are considered by law to be PCBU (person in charge of business or undertaking) and must provide staff with appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) by law. A Laser Safety Officer should be appointed within your workplace and in charge of laser safety policies, procedures and protocols; should you be visited by a Workplace Health & Safety Officer you would be able to show you have procedures, protocols and incident report forms available if required to show.
