how do we teach skin rejuvenation?

Skin Rejuvenation is an advanced topic to teach and learn, so we have broken it down into a series of blocks for individual topics, these contain a theory online module with the essential knowledge you require on the topic, some topics then follow with a practical workshop. Block 1 is compulsory to complete, then you can pick and choose your chosen skin rejuevantion short topic, or topics to study.

If you have completed our historic CE1 - Core Essentials, or CE1SR -Core Essentials Skin rejuve, or are enrolled in this new Block 3 course and have questions about Treating Sun-induced Pigmentation with IPL & Lasers, you now have the option to attend our exclusive virtual (zoom) live session with our clinical educators.

What is covered: this is a pre-set session with examples of sun damage pigmentation cases (eg: sun spots, poikiloderma, freckles) and gives learners who are already trained in the treatment theory / sciences the opportunity to discuss their client cases (based on available time)

A fee of $80 + GST applies to this service (a saving of $100 on our usual hourly fee for consultancy)

What will you learn

In this Mini Mods® Online course you will learn the theory and required teachings on Treating Sun-induced Pigmentation, including the underpinning treatment science principles and client care information for operators of IPL or Lasers, so that you can then commence practical training with us. Your learner outcomes for Skin Rejuvenation Block 3 are:

• Understand our UV affects the skin

• Outline common goals and challenges of treating unwanted pigmentation with cosmetic IPL / Laser treatments

• Understand a technology's mode of action and its likely outcome on pigmentation

• Understand the criteria for selecting suitable candidates for treatment

• Carry out a consultation for the purposes of treating pigmentation with light sources

• Recall the types, production and function of human melanin, and common skin conditions affected by abnormal melanin production as they relate to light-based treatments

• Understand and describe the differences in lesion terminology

• Gain confidence in talking to clients about the type of lesions they may have, and why a referral to a skin specialist may be required

• Classify risk, considering scientific principles, and decide on a safe and effective treatment plan

• Possess clinical knowledge on how to use IPL / Laser treatment parameters to treat pigmentation

• How to recognise what to look for in sucessful treatments, and prevent and manage potential side effects

• Demonstrate knowledge of how to reduce the incidence of accidental removal of malignant skin lesions through use of excellent clinical practices

• Know how to implement a test patch for pigmentation treatments with IPL / Laser

• Explain post-treatment care advice
